Skull and Cross Bone Pirate Cake

I got the idea for this Skull and Cross Bone Pirate cake when browsing through pirate pictures. The crossbones are made by wrapping icing around some wooden dowels.

I made the skull in relief by molding some lumps for cheeks and eye sockets and laying icing over the top and then dusting some food colour powder to give some contour.

Everyone loved the finished results.
