Coolest Soccer Birthday Cake

My Grandson wanted a Soccer Birthday Cake for his 8th Birthday. He was very specific about the colors and the flavors. The top cake (the soccer ball) was Chocolate with Raspberry filling and the bottom was white cake with Raspberry filling. The frosting was White Chocolate Cream Cheese. YUM

I used the Wilton ball cake pan but was not happy with it and wished I had gone with my original idea of using an oven safe bowl. The pan had lines in it that I thought would make it easier to do the soccer ball pattern. The lines didn’t show up enough. I free-handed the ball using a gel frosting for the black lines and then “painting” the red and white frosting in.

The Soccer balls on the side were also free-hand and made from fondant. The “ribbons were also fondant and then I used cake sparkles.

The only thing I would do different would be allow a little more time and cover the post balls with fondant. Frankly I was seeing spots from all the soccer balls I had made and just couldn’t bring myself to do four more.
