Homemade Soccer Cake

This soccer cake is a 2 layer 9" by 13" chocolate cake. I made a simple buttercream frosting and paste coloring for the green part. I piped the white frosting for the soccer field. I cut out a picture of my granddaughter and taped it to a wooden skewer.

I cut a strawberry basket into two pieces for the goals. The ball is make from playdoh and stuck on a skewer so it's held just above the cake surface. I colored coconut with liquid food coloring for the grass. The soccer pictures were from a sheet of stickers I bought at Michael's. Put a little playdoh on the backs and stuck toothpicks into it. I then pushed them into the cake so they would stand out a bit. Some curly black and white ribbon finished it off.

It was all pretty easy.
