Homemade Sound of Music Cake
I made this Sound of Music Cake for the closing night party of a production of The Sound of Music. It was a rich, chocolate cake with cream cheese icing. For the Maria figurine, I cut out a picture of Julie Andrews' body and pasted on the face of the Maria from our cast. She is mounted on a toothpick and pushed in amongst the grass and mountains at an angle for a 3-D look.
She loved it, and later put a magnet on the back of the figurine to put on her refrigerator! The music notes are homemade chocolates.
