Homemade Spideman 4th Birthday Cake
My older son was turning 4 years old and having to be a super fan of Spiderman, he reminded almost everyday, a month or two ahead that this time he wanted to a Spideman 4th Birthday Cake. So I got into figuring out how the cake would be structured, I baked two large square chocolate cakes a day before the birthday and a small square butter cake which I later cut out into a number 4.
On the day of the birthday which I normally do with all my baking is freshly ice the cake with traditional home made butter cream. The colours I chose were simply white for the base, red, blue, and black for Spidey and other outlining. I had copied a figure from a picture of a coloring book of Spiderman. I had then set the number 4 in the left hand side of the cake and then finishing of the filling of the colors and webs in black colored icing.
It had taken me two hours but it was worth it. A great tip is to design or put ideas together at least a week before, so its easier to get straight into baking the cake(s) and choosing the right colors for the icing.
