Spider Cake

This is a spider cake I made for a Halloween Party and my first attempt at a 3D cake. I made it using the Wilton ball pan and iced the two halves together with buttercream. The body was iced with Black Buttercream and a star tip.

Once iced, I added the legs (black licorice) and stuck them into Dare marshmallow cookies (Use a little dab of icing to secure the cookies, wait for it to set then poke the licorice through. I didn't take this extra step and the cookies kept sliding off the board until I figured it out.

For a face I used Mr Potato Head accessories and it was a big hit.
