Homemade Spider Cake

I made this spider cake for a co-worker. His birthday falls on Halloween so I decided to make a spider web cake with the spider crawling on the side.

I used 2 8-inch round chocolate cakes and used white buttercream to ice the cake. To make the web & spider I drew it out on wax paper then transferred the image using yellow piping gel ( in the picture you can still see it). I then used black buttercream for the spider web and the spider. I tried to use white buttercream for the letter but it wasn't visible enough so I traced over it with the remaining black buttercream icing.

The border in the bottom are mini black roses which was a last minute decision and was my favorite part of the cake.
