Homemade Spider Cake
My at the time 2 year old daughter was going through a phase where she was mad on spiders. Her favorite video was 'spider in the bath' - also one of my favorites when I was a little girl!
With her 3rd birthday approaching I asked her what kind of cake she wanted, to which she replied 'a spider one!'
I made 2 circular chocolate cakes and put them together for this spider cake. This was spiders body. Using fudge icing (and black food colouring I actually re-did this cake a month on for my niece with no food colouring added!)
To cover the whole cake I made it slightly spikey for the spidery body effect! I used chocolate fingers for the legs which were stuck together and covered in icing - a little messy and fiddley. Using rolled out icing I cut out the eyes and mouth.
