Homemade Spiderman Cake
This is a Spiderman cake for a friend's 4 year old grandson!
Made in a 12inch square cake tin using 20 ozs soft marge, 20 oz. sugar, 20 oz. self raising flour,10 eggs and some baking powder (sorry I never measure it but probably a teaspoonful) plus 1/2 teaspoonful of vanilla essence and baked for about 1 hour at about ( but not above) 350 degrees. Everyone's oven is different so you may have to adjust this for your particular oven. Sorry about not being precise but I'm that kind of cook! (with lots of disasters to prove it!)
The pattern is an old one from goodness knows where but the head measures 11 1/2 inches from top to bottom and 8 1/2 inches across the eyes. The eyes are white sugarpaste and the red is sugarpaste too. The black lines were from a posh(and expensive) squeezy tube of gel icing.
The edges of the board around Spiderman's head were covered in a mixture of black and red sugarpaste. The spiders are plastic!
