Homemade Spiderman Cake

This Spiderman Cake is a 2 layer 12" round cake frosted with chocolate tub frosting. The web was made with vanilla tub icing and a #2 decorating tip. After playing around for a while, we found that the web looks better when the center lines are at differing widths.

Since this was a spur of the moment cake for my cousin's 5th birthday, we didn't have time to hunt down an action figure for the top. We cut a picture from the front of a coloring book and attached it to the top with toothpicks. We purchased a large cardboard poster from the dollar store for the cake instead of placing it on a regular white cake board. The decorating took approximately 20 mins.
