Homemade SpongeBob Birthday Cake

First off I want to thank the contributors on the website, I gathered inspiration and so many creative ideas from the other Sponge Bob cakes that are pictured. I'm really glad that I came upon this website because I had no clue as to what I would use for the arms or the legs. The tips I gathered from the other cakes really helped me out a bunch!!

Well, for the SpongeBob Birthday Cake I made I used a 12x18 cake pan and I used 3 boxes of a yellow cake mix. For the arms, eyes, and tie I used sugar cookie dough. For the legs I used Twinkies, marshmallows for the socks, and hostess chocodiles for the shoes. I bought white and chocolate frosting as well as food coloring. I used cream cheese frosting which I don't really recommend because it did not really hold up well in the heat.

For the outlining that is on the cake I used black gel icing and red gel for the freckles. To keep the arms from falling off I used frosting as a "glue" to adhere the arms to the cake board. Hope these tips are useful. This was such a fun cake to make!
