I made this homemade Spongebob birthday cake for my son’s 3rd birthday. He loves Spongebob so much so I searched the net (thanks to this site :-) looking for easy-to-make Spongebob designed cake.
The cake was made of cheese pound cake which my friend baked. I did the decorating. The decorations were made from rolled-out marshmallow fondant. I just tinted the marshmallow fondant with Spongebob’s color. The eyes, teeth, spots and necktie were cut-outs then glued on Spongebob body using vanilla extracts. Then I piped the outline of his eyes, nose, lips, shirt and necktie using buttercream frosting tinted dark brown.
This was my first time creating a character cake and was so nervous in case the homemade Spongebob birthday cake don’t turn out like Spongebob :-). But my 3-year old loved it.
