Homemade Spongebob Cake

This Spongebob cake was created for Anna's second birthday party by her daddy. We used gum for the teeth and fruit leather for the eyelashes, tie, and other accessories.

The cake itself is a simple box cake baked in a 13x9 in. cake pan. The vanilla frosting was softened with a dab of milk and dyed yellow for Spongebob's body and blue for his eyes with food dye, while Spongebob's pants were made with milk chocolate frosting.

My husband used tweezers at one point to apply the smallest things, such as the nose (fruit leather). The result was a hit and a lot of fun! (not to mention inexpensive!)
