Coolest Spongebob Cake

When my stepson told me he wanted a homemade Spongebob cake for his 6th birthday, I started on the internet and found this website! After taking ideas from a lot of the different submissions, I began my own!

I used two white cake mixes in a sheet cakes pan and baked it the night before and then put it in the freezer (it makes the cake much easier to carve and frost). I was able to complete the entire cakes with two cans of white frosting, one of chocolate, fruit roll-ups, Twinkies and chocolate Swiss rolls.

I first carved out the wavy parts around the sponge part of his body and iced it yellow. I then iced the shirt white and pants chocolate. His pant legs are Twinkies that I cut down to size and so are his arms and legs that I also cut appropriately. The sleeves of his shirt are also Twinkies. I used fruit roll-ups for his tongue and tie, and chocolate Swiss rolls for his shoes.

I used a drinking glass to makes his eyes and piped around the markings. For the rest of his details I pulled up a picture of him and drew his face free-hand with a toothpick in the yellow icing and then traced over my markings with the appropriate colored frosting.

I hope this helps the next baker of such a fun homemade Spongebob cake!!
