Homemade Spongebob Cake
I made this homemade Spongebob cake for my son who absolutely loves Spongebob. I saw this in the Wilton book and decided I had to do it. I made the Spongebob by using the Spongebob cake pan and melted candy melts. I made all the colors I needed and piped them into the cake pan and then put it in the freezer to set. Then I took it out and attached 2 dowel rods to the back of it using candy melts.
For the cake I made two 8 inch cakes and 1 top half of ball pan. I covered 1 cake in fondant to resemble the bottom bun, for the hamburger part I cut marshmallows in to little pieces and after icing the cake I pushed them into the sides and then covered in fondant. I then rolled the cheese colored fondant and put it on there and did the same for the lettuce.
For the top bun I covered it in fondant and then added the little seeds made out of fondant also. I stacked each layer and then added the giant Spongebob on top and then I made pants, legs, and shoes out of fondant to finish him off. This homemade Spongebob cake was definitely fun to make and my son loved it, but couldn't wait to eat it either lol.
