Homemade Spongebob Squarepants Cake

I made this Spongebob Squarepants Cake for my friend's son's fourth birthday. I got on this website a few times to get some ideas and this is what I came up with.

The body was made from a 12x18in Wilton cake pan. I filled it with 2 1/2 cake mixes. I used the remaining mix to make cupcakes (fill cups so they spill over a little when baking). I baked a 9x13 cake also.

For the eyes I found 2 cupcakes that were the same size and cut off the bottoms. Out of the 9x13 cake, I sculpted the nose, shoes, legs and I used corners of cake for shoulders. I made Wilton butter cream frosting. I tinted some yellow. Made brown by adding a little cocoa powderd to white. I bought black and red Wilton frosting and made the other colors.

I frosted the cake with a crumb coat of icing. I then placed the eyes and nose and with a knife. I drew on the mouth, and drew lines for shirt, pants and tie. Then I went over all of my lines with black icing. Filled in the mouth and tie. Then randomly placed pores. Then I used the #18 star tip to pipe yellow, white and brown frosting. Then I piped on the arms.

It was pretty easy to construct. It took 5 hrs to decorate!( I had to break a few times to tend to my children). I think it turned out great, everyone loved it! It is the best cake to ever leave my kitchen!
