Coolest Spring Time Birthday Cake

I made this cake for my mother in law’s birthday. First I  made two 12×12 chocolate cakes for the bottom tier, and I made two 8×8  strawberry cakes for the top tier. I made butter cream icing while the cakes were put in freezer to cool.

After cooling cakes I trimmed the top of cakes, then I crumb coated the cakes. Chilled cakes again. While cakes are in freezer I made the fondant and dyed it blue with cake dye.  Rolled out blue fondant and carefully put over cake.  I am learning to work with fondant so it was a little tricky.  After getting both cakes covered I sat the top cake on the bottom at a angle.  I then made green rocks out of fondant and sat it around the top tier.  The bottom tier had butter cream with edible grass.

On the very top of cake was silk flowers and a bird I got from Walmart. I added a happy birthday pick I got at a Dollar tree.  When I got to the party my mother in law trust socked.  After the party she said it was the best party she had ever had.  She had never gotten a cake like that.  Everyone that saw it loved it.  And everyone was sad when it was time to eat it, lol. It was so moist and good with homemade icing. It was a fun cake.
