Homemade St Patrick's Day 50th Birthday Cake
This St Patrick's Day 50th Birthday Cake was done for a friend called Patrick whose 50th birthday landed around St. Patrick's Day and the theme of the party was the same. The cake was chocolate and covered in homemade MMF fondant. The decorations on top I hand modelled out of marzipan and fondant.
The cake was placed on a tray which I covered with icing to give the illusion of a hat. I live in Kenya and many pre-bought products are not available therefore most things have to be homemade. You do not get moulds here and again have to hand model. The shamrocks I cut from imported flower cutters which I then modified to look like shamrocks. All features were hand painted.
