Homemade Standup Elephant Cake

Homemade Standup Elephant Cake

I created this Standup Elephant Cake for my mother’s birthday using ideas I found from different websites including this one. I used the standup teddy bear cake pan from Wilton and used a box pound cake mix. I then cut up some large marshmallows and used them for the feet pinning them in place with toothpicks. I then used a bendable straw and placed four to five large marshmallows on the straw and placed on the cake for the elephant’s truck.

I cooked a large chocolate chip cookie and cut out the shapes for the ears. Once I had the shapes for the ears I placed them in the freezer to harden them and make it easier for icing. I than decorated the cake with a star tip in the colors of blue, pink, and white.

I enjoyed making the cake and even if it didn’t turn out quite perfect and was a big surprise for my mom who loved it and showed it off at work.
