Homemade Strawberry Shortcake Birthday Cake

I made this Strawberry Shortcake Birthday Cake for a friend's little girl. I used Pillsbury strawberry cake mix and a 10in and a 8inch cake pan and each cake is 2 layers.

I also made my own marshmallow fondant.
Everything on this cake is edible except the candles themselves. I was asked am I am professional. No, I am not. I just love to create.

What a cute cake, the colors just jump out at you and the details are really fun to look at.
I am currently using store bought fondant and it tastes horrible (but it is so fun to sculpt), you mentioned that you made your own? Do you have a certain recipe and is it hard to make?
