Homemade Strawberry Shortcake Birthday Cake
I made this Strawberry Shortcake Birthday Cake for my daughter's 3rd birthday in October. I used Duncan Hines yellow cake mixes, Wilton performance round cake pans (6 inch, 8 inch, and 10 inch). I double layered each tier. The tiers are in the form of Strawberry Shortcake's outfit.
The top is her shirt, the middle is her skirt, and the bottom is her striped leggings. The whole thing was filled and crumb coated with a homemade buttercream icing, and then homemade rolled marshmallow fondant was used to finish it.
For the red dots on the middle tier, I used Red Hot candies, and the top is a Strawberry Shortcake toy. It was super fun to make, and it took 2 days to do the whole thing from start to finish. It was a huge hit at her party. Everyone loved the taste of the marshmallow fondant. I recommend using that instead of the pre-made stuff.
