Coolest Suitcase Wedding Cake

My friends went to Barbados for their wedding and honeymoon, so they wanted a cake for their night due back home. We came up with the Homemade Suitcase Wedding Cake Idea. I used roasting tins for the baking, 16″x12 and 12″x10 and 8×8. The bottom one was fruit. I made that 3mths before, then the other two were sponge.

I covered it then in a thick layer of marzipan, so I would have a good smooth finish to put the fondant on. I used ivory fondant. I made the handles out of rolled fondant with tylose added and sprayed them with pearl spray which can purchase in most cake decorating shops. It gives a lovely finish. I attached them with cocktail sticks to the cakes, the diamonds were not edible but the bride wanted some bling and agreed to remove them before cutting.

I made the toppers out of fondant with tylose added. This helps it set hard. The groom was kneeling down pulling the bride up the side of the cake. I made them from the feet upwards, the bride was extremely pleased.
