Coolest Sulley Cake

I made this Sulley cake for a friend at work. She made several subtle hints that’s she would like a Sulley cake for her birthday. So I started by searching the internet for a picture I liked and found this one which I copied.

I started by drawing a template for the face shape. I cooked two 10 inch plain cakes and cut out the shape using my template. I used vanilla butter cream and jam as my filling. I then covered the cake completely in icing and made balls of icing and cut them in half to make the eyes and a black piece of fondant for the nose. I cut the mouth shape out of black fondant and put on teeth and a tongue.

I then made the horns out of big pieces of fondant and glued then in place. Now the fun part! I rolled out hundreds of sausages for the fur. Yes, I hand rolled every pieces of fur individually. I nearly lost the will to live! I then started the task of gluing them all in place around the cake. I started at the edge and worked by way in slightly overlapping the second row over the first.

I think the cake turned out great and she loved it which made all the effort worth it. Make sure if you have a go at this cake you have plenty of time to make the fur as it takes a very long time.
