Coolest Superman Birthday Cake
I made this Superman Birthday Cake from scratch. I made a 9 inch and 12 in round pound cake. For the pound cake i used 2 1/3 c. flour, 1 1/2c butter, 1/2 tsp. salt, 2 1/2c. sugar, 7 eggs, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1 tsp. grated lemon zest. Bake at 350 for 50-55 min. After I covered the bottom layer I used simple frosting made of powder sugar, butter, and vanilla, to place the second layer on.
The fondant I used was made of 1-16oz bag of marshmallows melted for 1 min. in the microwave, then I added 4 tbs. of water and microwaved for an additional 30 sec. I then mixed in 32 oz. bag of powder sugar. I used additional cup of powder sugar to dust the surface to knead the fondant. I used food coloring for the different colors on the cake. After decorating I diluted food coloring in a couple tbs. of water and brushed them on to the cake for more vibrant colors.
It was easier than I thought and it looks great.
