Homemade SweetPea Cake
I made this Homemade SweetPea Cake for my girlfriend' baby shower. Had never worked with fondant before but it was something I wanted to try. I bought some Wilton premade fondant. Very easy to work with but not very flavorful. I tinted the fondant pink and flavored it with red licorice flavor (all I had on hand) for the tiers of the cake.
The leaves and vines are also made of fondant, colored green and flavored with green apple. I made all the leaves (using a leaf punch) and the baby in the pod the day before to give time to set. I cut out the letters on the cake from fondant using a pizza cutter. The flowers and butterflies were store bought. Such a fun, pretty cake!
