Swimming Pool Cake
This is a great cake for those that swim on a team. I found this swimming pool cake on this web site and re-created it to fit my needs. I wanted to make the lane lines 3-D.
This is a 9x13 one layer cake. I used butter cream frosting in medium consistency. It is iced smooth with some slight lines added to make the water look more realistic. I added blue sprinkles to the water to add some depth. The lane lines are piped in with a 4. I used candy necklace pieces to create the 3-D lane lines. The diving blocks are made of sugar wafers cut in half and held together with a toothpick and some icing. The numbers are piped on the diving blocks with Wilton fondant icing writer. I think this gives a nice crisp look to the lettering. The pennants were created in Word and glued to a toothpick for added personalization.
Team mates and parents loved the cake.
