Homemade Tea Party Cake

I got the idea for this Tea Party cake from this website. I made this cake for my daughter's 5th birthday party that we had a tea shop. Everyone loved it and the owners even wanted to contract me for other birthday parties!

I used the Wilton doll dress molds for the tea cups (upside down). Once the little cakes cooled I flattened out the bottom and leveled the top. I just used different color designs on each teacup to make them unique and each little girl got one at the tea party.

For the tea pot I used the Wilton round ball pan. Once you put a layer of icing in between you have to freeze them to hold together. The tea plates and handles are made from fondant and everything else is butter cream piped. The "tea" is made from Wilton's translucent brown icing. That was a great finishing touch!

This cake was very time consuming but hey, it is worth it to see the look on our kid's faces!
