Homemade Teddy Bear Birthday Cake

This Teddy Bear Birthday Cake was made by me for my son Kobe's 1st birthday January 2008.

I started with cooking a 12 inch square white mud cake and a 8 inch square mud cake. The 12inch cake was used for the base that the bear sat on and the 8inch cake was cut up into blocks to spell out Kobe's name. I then cooked a teddy bear cake using a 3D teddy bear cake tin.

I covered the bottom cake and blocks with butter cream and using a grass tip and piping bag, I piped the fur on the bear again using butter cream. I made letters for Kobe's blocks and stars to place in the cake for decoration out of fondant. I then finished it off with ribbon and I bought little blue bears made out of icing to decorate the side of the cake.

This was a fun cake to make and could be used for all types of occasions.
