Thomas the Tank Cake

Thomas the Tank Cake

This Thomas the Tank Cake is our first attempt at a Fondant cake for our son's 2nd birthday. He is a Thomas fanatic so we knew as long as it somewhat resembled him it would be a great hit.

We had read on the internet that the marshmallow fondant was more appealing to eat so we gave that a shot. It's certainly more work than we thought, working it and then finally trying to match the desired colour.

We had purchased two tools that made the whole process go a lot better, a fondant rolling pin and fondant smoother. These two purchases (although greatly overpriced) helped us achieve the look we were after.

I rolled up balls of fondant underneath the nose and cheeks. Give that a shot.
