Thomas The Tank Engine Cake
This Thomas the tank engine cake was a very time consuming cake. I used the Wilton 3D cake pan. I cut and reshaped the cake to be more square like "Thomas" and I cut off the front grill thing cause Thomas doesn't have that.
I used Wilton paste colors to get true frosting colors, if you use liquid food coloring you have to add so much that it thins out the frosting too much and you don't get as brilliant of colors. I just had a little "Thomas" toy that I used to make it look as much like him as I could.
It turned out pretty good I think. I don't love the face, it would have looked better if it was made out of gum paste, but I have never used it before so I did the best I could with buttercream.
The birthday boy loved it and all the kids thought it was really cool.
