Homemade Thomas The Train Birthday Cake
I used a Madeira cake recipe and hired all three tins from local cake shop for this Thomas The Train Birthday Cake. I used a recipe for royal icing and made different food colouring to colour batches and stored in air tight containers.
I used a pallette knife to spread grey on the top of the three first then piped green all round the edges and used palette knife again for hard to reach areas. i couldn't get hold of any long liquorice strips for the tracks so I used chocolate icing and black icing. I just made it with black die and icing sugar (easy) and piped them on with a smaller piping bag and nozzle.
For the Thomas I used my son's toy as a guide and used food colour to match the colours from his toy. For this I just used ready made icing from the shop.
