Auburn/Tae Kwon Do Tiger Cake

Auburn/Tae Kwon Do Tiger Cake

This tiger cake was for my nephew's birthday. He loves Auburn and he is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and the patch on his uniform is of a Siberian tiger. I lucked out when I made this, I did not know he was struggling with which kind of cake he wanted and this covered them both!

It is two layers of yellow cake (9" rounds) with Wilton ready made white icing that I tinted orange for the face, black for the details and yellow for the eyes. I simply piped the whiskers on after everything else was finished.

I had printed off a few pictures from the internet of tigers and I made copies to enlarge the eyes and stripes for detail and did it all freehand. He absolutely loved it as did everyone else that was there. While it was in the carrier he hugged it and told us we could not cut it.

Thanks for the love!

I never thought about fudge icing, that's awesome! I always hate making black icing since it turns everyone's teeth and mouths black. Thanks for the advice!

BLACK ICING

FROM MY EXPERIENCE IT IS BETTER TASTING TO USE FUDGE ICING AND ADD (LESS) BLACK FOOD COLORING--THIS CAKE IS PHENOMENAL THOUGH.. LOOKS AWESOME!

It's just white buttercream dyed black. Same goes for the orange. :)
