Coolest Tiger Cake

This tiger cake was for my nephew’s birthday. He loves Auburn and he is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and the patch on his uniform is of a Siberian tiger. I lucked out when I made this, I did not know he was struggling with which kind of cake he wanted and this covered them both!

It is two layers of yellow cake (9″ rounds) with Wilton ready made white icing that I tinted orange for the face, black for the details and yellow for the eyes. I simply piped the whiskers on after everything else was finished.

I had printed off a few pictures from the internet of tigers and I made copies to enlarge the eyes and stripes for detail and did it all freehand. He absolutely loved it as did everyone else that was there. While it was in the carrier he hugged it and told us we could not cut it.

  2. FROM MY EXPERIENCE IT IS BETTER TASTING TO USE FUDGE ICING AND ADD (LESS) BLACK FOOD COLORING–THIS CAKE IS PHENOMENAL THOUGH.. LOOKS AWESOME!

  3. I never thought about fudge icing, that’s awesome! I always hate making black icing since it turns everyone’s teeth and mouths black. Thanks for the advice!

  4. Wilton makes icing color gels. Instead of adding food coloring to dye your icing, you can just use a little bit of the gels and your icing will change color.

  5. Would love to copy your cake for my grandson. Do you have more pictures of it and would it be possible to receive them by email?
