Homemade Tinkerbell Birthday Cake

This is my nieces Tinkerbell birthday cake. I have made her cakes for the past four years and this is her third birthday. This was actually my first two layer Birthday cake for her. I use box cakes but spend hours on decorating. My favorite type of box cake mix is anything yellow!

On the top of the cake I cut out a template of Tinkerbell. I place it on top of the cake and I filled it in with frosting. I cover the entire cake with stars (I am not sure which Wilton's tip it is). I found scrap book stationary butterflies and decorated around Tinkerbell. I also put the butterflies on the sides of the cakes. I also found these little Tinkerbell figures and placed them around the cake although nothing other than the frosting is edible on the cake.

The idea came from a lot of searching through different cakes and combining other ides with my ideas. This may sound very corny but I look at decorating a cake like painting a picture. ALMOST nothing isn't fixable! If you leave a comment I will try to respond...I visit this site regularly.
