Homemade Tinkerbell Birthday Cake

Homemade Tinkerbell Birthday Cake

This Tinkerbell Birthday Cake was a homemade cake made for my four year old daughter. The base is a double layer, as well as the tree stump. I would rate the difficulty as medium, with an emphasis on time consuming.

The white daisies were made ahead of time (royal icing) as well as the mushrooms which are meringue. The tops of the mushrooms were sprayed with a red food colouring spray from Michaels. I didn't assemble the mushrooms (stems and caps), or paint them, until the night before as I didn't want them to get too soggy. The river is blue icing with blue sugar sparkles (Michaels) over-top for the watery effect.

For the kids party during the day, I made matching cupcakes with Tinkerbell toppers, and used the main cake just as the centerpiece. The main cake was then used later for the family party in the evening.

what sizes?
by: Lisa

What size pan did you use to make the tree stump and how exactly did you make the "meringue mushrooms?" The cake is gorgeous.
