Homemade Tinkerbell Birthday Cake

Homemade Tinkerbell Birthday Cake

My daughter wanted a Tinkerbell Birthday Cake for her 4th birthday so after finding this site I was inspired to have a go at a Dolly Varden Cake.

I bought the Dolly Varden tin, lined it with baking paper and basically made up and baked a packet mix vanilla cake.

Once the cake was cooked and cooled I, like many other advised here - wrapped the dolls leg with clear wrap and placed her in the middle. I covered the "skirt" with green icing and piped the top parts. The piping was a bit rough, next time I would try a different icing. The icing flowers were purchased on eBay.

I always make a "little cake" for the candles - so all the toddlers can have a go at blowing out the candle without spitting on the actual cake!

I was pretty happy with it as a first attempt!

Well done Melissa... this is what I will be basing the Tinkerbell I'm making this week for my 3 year old. Of course you had to be from Perth to make such a great cake! lol
