Homemade Tow Mater Birthday Cake

I made this Tow Mater Birthday Cake for a friend's son's birthday party. My fiance' recommended me and I was able to do whatever I wanted as long as it was within their "Cars" (Disney) theme. So this is what I surprised them with. Now they have me do a cake for them every year!

I baked a bunch of large and small bread pans of cake and also made a lot of colored homemade fondant. After about an hour or so of stacking and shaping the frozen cake, I was able to ice it and begin laying the fondant on it. I used various edible items such as red hot candy, large peanut butter cup, Hershey mini chocolate bars, and chocolate filled chocolate graham sticks, mini chocolate doughnuts, etc. for all the detail, as well as edible sparkle dust to give the "rusty" look.

Overall this was a great hit and I look forward to doing a new one each year for them!
