Coolest Tow Mater Birthday Cake

My son wanted a Tow Mater Birthday Cake so I used this site and took ideas from all of the Mater cakes posted on here to come up with my own. I used two Betty Crocker cake mixes and baked them both in a loaf pan. I trimmed both cakes so that they were level once they cooled off. I used one full cake for the base and iced it with Betty Crocker chocolate icing.

I cut the other loaf in half and used part for the engine and then mounted the other half on top for the cab of the truck. I iced the rest of the cake and then added candies for decorations. I used Fudgey-O’s for the wheels, kit-kat for the bumpers, Dentyne Ice for teeth. I cut the jube jubes in half and used them for head lights, rear lights and eyes. I used a peanut butter cup for the engine and put a 3 on it for my son’s third birthday. I used smarties and a jube jube for the lights on top of the cab. Hershey mini milk chocolate bars were used for the mirrors which I attached using toothpicks.

To make the hoist, I used Oreo Sippers and grape string licorice. I strung the licorice through the sipper and the tied it in a loop at the end so there was hook. It was quick and easy to make and was a big hit!
