This Tow Mater cake was for my niece’s 4th birthday. She loved the movie Cars and told me that’s what she wanted.
I made a chocolate cream cheese pound cake. I carved the cake and covered it in fondant, which was the first time I’d ever used fondant. It took a while to do cover this cake. After I got it covered, I used an air brush to paint mater.
I used chocolate mini dounuts as the tires, Dots candy as the tail lights and the light on top, cereal sticks for the winch, a peanut butter cup for the radiator, and cherry twist as the ropes.
After I got it painted it started coming together and I was getting a little excited. I worked for at least 5 hours on this cake, maybe a little longer. But it was worth it. Since then I’ve made 2 more, they were good but my first one was the best.
My niece loved this cake. She didn’t want to cut it. If you try it have fun with it
