Homemade Tractor Birthday Cake

I did this tractor birthday cake for my 5 year old son's birthday. He loves tractors and John Deere. The cake is made of 2 oblong cakes put together. To do the brown plowed field it is chocolate icing that I put on then put in the refrigerator to get the icing stiff. Then I used a pumpkin scraper and dragged it along the brown icing to make rows.

The green field is just white icing dyed green and piped on the cake using a star tip. The tractor and combine we bought at Tractor Supply for just a couple of bucks. My son really liked the cake and loved the new toys that came on top.

Thanks for posting this. My son is a big tractor fan also. I was browsing around looking for little tractor ideas for his cake. What's weird is that it's his 5th birthday (as the cake in your picture) and I just bought those same exact tractors and combine from Tractor Supply. I guess that's my green light for the tractor cake! Thanks again!
