Homemade Train Birthday Cake

I baked 2 rectangular cakes to make the shape of this train birthday cake - rectangular tin 12” x 9”.

1st rectangular cake - divided equally into 3 length ways.
1st length – nothing. (12”x3”)
2nd length – cut equally in ½. (6”x3”) each
3rd length – cut 2/3 to 1/3. (8”x3”) and (4”x3”)
2nd rectangular cake – cut 6 equal rectangles size 4”x3”.
I ended up with 11 smaller rectangles.
Going back the 3rd length - 1/3 (4”x3”) of the cake – cut a slant and placed on top of the 2/3 (8”x3”)

Decoration:
For the icing: butter icing and food colourings.
Sides and connecting carriages: strawberry laces.
Carriages: Decoration: dolly mixtures, smarties, white dazzles, chocolate dazzles, wine gums and fizzers. The wheels are made with giant buttons.
The smoke stack is a big marshmallow with a wire that has mini marshmallows strung on.
