Homemade Train Birthday Cake

I made this Train Birthday Cake for my son's 2nd birthday from the ideas on your website and the Wilton website. He absolutely loved it and so did everyone else!

I made 3 different flavours: Chocolate, Cherry Chip and Rainbow. I used cake mixes from the store and omitted the extra water (used only 1 cup) and egg (used 2 instead of 3)to make it more firm. I used the butter cream icing recipe on the Wilton website and it turned out great. It was a big hit!

The track was made from Kit Kat bars and graham crumbs for the gravel. The grass was made with coconut and green food coloring. I used black gummy candies for the coal, and M&M's on the other box car. For the caboose I used a chocolate cake and a small part of the cherry chip set inside to make it higher. Oreos and colored Twizzlers were used for the wheels, and skittles for around the windows.
