Coolest Train Birthday Cake

Since my son Teague is obsessed with Choo Choo Trains I had to make him a Train Birthday Cake.

I used two cake mixes for the trains and a batch of crispy treats. I made a total of 6 cakes out of bread loaf pans. The cakes turned out thin and it made them easier to stack.

I stacked two cakes for the back train carts and frosted them. For the front cart I cut one of the cakes in half and stacked them on top of each other.

Using the crispy treats was easy to mold, stayed where I wanted it to and looked good where I didn’t frost it. I used it for the front of the train, and the haystack.

My son’s birthday was close to Halloween so I used his leftover candy to decorate. Cookies for the wheels, licorice for the tracks. I used cookies to cover the cake part that was exposed, much easier than frosting the open cake.

I had a blast making this cake and can’t wait till my daughter turns one to make her cake too!

Thanks for all the tips from others that did train cakes on this sight, I used a lot of tips from here.
