HomemadeTransformer Camaro Bumblebee Cake
I created this Transformer Camaro Bumblebee Cake using a Wilton Nascar cake pan. I used two boxes of Wilton creamy white buttercream icing, tinted with "golden yellow" concentrated paste Wilton icing color. I first coated the cake with a thin layer of icing. I then used Wilton ready-to-use rolled fondant tinted with black icing coloring.
I wanted to use the fondant because I didn't want the kids to eat black icing! So I was able to take off the fondant when I served the cake. I used my son's Bumblebee transformer as a model, then started cutting and shaping the fondant to look like the black areas on the car. I laid them on the cake in the appropriate areas, which at this time only has the thin layer of yellow buttercream on it.
After the fondant was placed on the cake and I was happy with it, I used a star tip and piped the rest of the buttercream icing covering the non-fondant areas. I used a silver "dust" to cover the black fondant to make the headlights, fog lights, and wheels. I
t was a lot of fun, and my son, who turned 5, loved it!
