Homemade Treasure Chest Birthday Cake

This Treasure Chest Birthday Cake is two 9x13 on top of each other for the base and another 9x13 for the lid. I used Rice crispie treats for the wedges as I felt they were stronger than cake.

I used fruit by the foot for the straps on the box and chocolate raisins for rivets. I used crushed graham cracker crumbs to look like sand and a variety of candy including ring pops, jelly beans, chocolate gold coins and Hershey treasures for my decorations in the box.

This cake was a lot of work but it received rave reviews from our guests. Not to mention my son loved it.

I love that! You said you used rice krispie treats for wedges.... so is the top cake on a board with the rice krispies under it?
You did a fantastic job!

That is awesome! What a cool idea, especially with the popularity of pirates these days!
