Coolest Treasure Chest Birthday Cake

I made this Treasure Chest Birthday Cake for my stepdaughter’s son’s 5th birthday. The cover is made from rice krispie treats molded into the cover and all is frosted with buttercream frosting and accents are fondant. I held the cover up with the help of wooden dowels and put the candies in the front etc. for the cover to set on.

Sand is just graham cracker crumbs. The base of the chest, I baked a 11X14 cake and cut it into 3 4 1/2″ pieces and stacked them. This is a fun cake to make. Thanks for looking

  1. We used your cake as a model for my son’s 5th birthday party, a pirate themed celebration! While ours didn’t turn out quite as good as yours, for first time novelty cake makers, it was a ton of fun and easily recognizable. Thanks for posting. Your cake helped make our little guy’s birthday amazing!
