Homemade Treasure Chest Cake

This treasure chest cake was for my son's 3rd birthday party which was a pirate theme. I had decided to make a treasure chest cake and had pretty much figured out how to "engineer it" when I came across this site and saw that others had attempted the same thing and it worked! (Thanks for the idea of adding the beads, BTW... I was only planning on doing the coins, but the necklaces added so much!)

So, here's my version complete with an "x marks the spot" background (a thin coated place mat from a party store). My son loved it!
