Homemade Triple Decker Lady Bug Cake

Homemade Triple Decker Lady Bug Cake

I made this Triple Decker Lady Bug Cake for a friend's daughter's 1st birthday. Bottom layer is double chocolate with hazelnut filling and butterscotch flavored buttercream. The smaller cake is vanilla filled with white chocolate ganache and a raspberry flavoured buttercream.

The lady bug was made in a cereal bowl (chocolate cake) and covered in orange fondant (home made). It's decorated in Chocolate buttercream. The head is a cupcake, which I froze, then carved, then iced. the eyes are fondant and chocolate buttercream. The flowers on the cake are fondant, same with the yellow parts (sunflower petals).

It was my first time ever using fondant so I was happy with how it came out. Oh, and the antennas are "pocky" sticks (chocolate covered cookies) with fondant balls on the ends.
