Homemade Turtle Cake Idea
I used the Wilton soccer ball pan to bake this Homemade Turtle Cake Idea. This cake was baked with Duncan Hine's Devils Food Chocolate. I used Wilton Tip #230 (the cupcake filler tip) to fill the middle of the cake with marshmallow creme. The cake was crumb coated with chocolate buttercream (Wilton's recipe). I covered the cake with homemade marshmallow fondant (1 bag melted marshmallows, 2 lb powdered sugar and 4T water).
I tinted the fondant with Wilton's leaf green and did not fully knead the color all the way in so it had a marbled effect. I reserved some of the leaf green fondant and mixed it with some royal blue fondant and used a marbled effect. I used Wilton's circle fondant cutters to make the circles for the shells. I then used the remaining green fondant and shaped the head, tail and 4 legs with my hands.
I made the eyes with plain fondant and black tinted fondant for the pupils and mouth.
