Coolest Tye Dye Cake

My daughter turned 8 and wanted a Tye dye party. I started this Homemade Tye Dye Cake with a 9×13 sheet cake with 2 – 9inch round layers on top. I use a modified box cake recipe. 1 yellow cake mix, 1 box vanilla pudding, 4 eggs, 1 cup milk, 1 cup oil and 1 tsp. vanilla. I made an additional box of vanilla pudding to back fill between the layers to make extra moist.

Prior to baking, I divided the batter and tinted it several different colors. I didn’t mix the batter, I just poured it into the pan and let it settle. The icing design I got ideas from the cake plates we used for the party. I tinted the icing and using a star tip covered the cake. I did crumb coat the layers first. All icing was buttercream.

The writing and her name were made ahead of time using royal icing and then just using a small star tip to accent with red icing. The peace sign candies were just tinted white chocolate in a candy mold

The cake turned out beautifully.
